Meeting Minutes from the August 20th, 2020
Regular Monthly Meeting of Linwood Board of Trustees
At 7:00 pm chairperson Deb Johnson called the meeting to order and stated that the open meeting act is posted in the hall. Those answering the roll call were: Deb Johnson, Mike Croghan, Amber Phillips and Susie Matchett. Josh Slonecker was late to meeting. Susie Matchett made a motion to accept the minutes from the July 16th, 2020 meeting as read. Amber Phillips seconded the motion all were in favor with none opposed. The clerk then presented to the board the treasurer’s report dated August 20th, 2020, Susie Matchett made the motion to accept the report and Mike Croghan seconded the motion all were in favor with none opposed. August Bills: Kathy Eaton, Clerk Fees $230.87; Will Eaton, maintenance $526.39; Jim Overton, mowing $86.58; Pekny and Assoc. quarterly tax preparation $50.00; Bomgaars, tree trimmer and battery $222.00; Waste connections, hall garbage $35.00; Schuler Coop, Fuel $30.03; Lee Enterprises, 2 legal notices published in Banner Press $23.10; Titan Machinery, switch for backhoe $70.34; Arps Gravel and Concrete, 1 load of dirt $181.20; The Pinnacle Agency, Renewal of Commercial Insurance Package $3,891.00; The Pinnacle Agency, Renewal of Worker’s Compensation Insurance $840.00; Deb Johnson, labor for the Village $60.00; BPPD, village electricity $558.96.Susie Matchett made the motion to pay the August 2020 Bills and Amber Phillips seconded the motion, all were in favor. An update on the upcoming work form Schutt Construction was discussed. Deb Johnson gave a talk about her and Mike Croghan’s experience with the Butler County Supervisor’s meeting in which she was on the agenda. Fred Hermsen called the chairperson that he was going to be at the meeting then right before the meeting he told her that he would not be attending the meeting concerning the old dance hall property at 3rd and Beech. The clerk read the post cards to the board that was received back from asking the residents what they thought about the Village acquiring the property. More post cards were in favor of the plan to enlarge the park then against. The Board has let the lawyer take on the issue for the property has been deemed a nuisance. Deb Johnson expressed her views on the population of dogs and cats within the Village. She will check more into what to do but the board needs to make sure dogs have their rabies vaccinations up to date which is a state statue. Mike Croghan made a motion to give the renewal paper work to “No Where Special” for their liquor license beings there was not public objections. Amber Phillips seconded the motion all were in favor with none opposed. Amber Phillips presented a design for a new sign then Josh Slonecker made a motion to do the design presented and get 2 signs at the cost of $1200.00 for both metal signs. Mike Croghan seconded the motion all were in favor with none opposed. With the high winds we have been getting the flag pole is bent. Susie Matchett made a motion to replace the pole and also the American flag. Amber Phillips seconded the motion all were in favor with none opposed. The next meeting date will be on September 10th, 2020 at the Village Hall starting at 6:30 with the budget meeting then going into the regular monthly meeting immediately after. Mike Croghan made the adjournment motion at 8:02, Josh Slonecker seconded the motion all were in favor meeting adjourned.
